Race yaks across perilous mountains at break-neck speeds!
Inspired by traditional Tibetan yak racing, Yak Dash: Horns of Glory is an exciting 2D side-scrolling racer that tests reaction time, skill, and bravado. Experience 17 levels in four treacherous mountain ranges. Complete each level as fast as possible by smashing obstacles, leaping chasms and discovering shortcuts along the way.
This is a mobile game (Unity, iOS & Android) that I developed while working at Mutant Labs. Animating with Spine allowed us to add a huge amount of depth to character customisation, which meant players could really go to town with bling, hats and space suits! The game allowed players to compete with real competitors, via recorded ghost data from a worldwide user base. Our unique multiplayer engine gave players a lag-free experience, resulting in a truly competitive racing sim.
Alongside the main game, I also developed a level editor which was built on top of the Ferr2D (a plugin heavily influenced by the UbiArt framework). Our custom editor allowed for the abstraction of level design completely, making my job as lead developer was mainly focused on building the core game mechanics.
